The Japanese langauge TENDS to ENCOURAGE vague wording and statements. If you TRANSLATE those vague expressions directly (literally and mechanically) into English it can SOUND very empty indeed. Care in CHOOSING a specific English noun in place of a vague Japanese noun can IMPROVE communication. The English noun should be LINKED in the student's mind to its image.
